Athletes can run in as many races as possible. A runner could run in both men's and open heats for example, or in the A relay and B relay races (varsity/jv) in a given age group.
8 & under races, 9-10 races are determined by age as of December 31, 2021 (AAU or USATF age rules). Middle school age group is 11 -14, so clubs can run 11-14 year old teams against school teams in the middle school race. Athletes can run up an age group but can not run down -- team age will be determined by its oldest participant.
Teams paying by check please pay at the race. Make checks out to CLCF Cross Country.
Coach Tom Aman began coaching CLCF cross country in 2003 after the passing of the founder of the program, Will Speck. The program consisted of three one hour practices a week. The program offered 4 developmental meets on Saturday afternoons. Each practice started with Coach Tom gretting the athletes with "It is a great day for cross country." He would challenge the runners to researach facts about certain places they trained. Such as at Roger William Park, he would ask the runners to find out information about the Temple to Music. Each season would end on or around Halloween.
In 2019, Coach Tom stepped down as the head coach of CLCF XC. He has remained a part of the cross country program as a coach. He attends the Junior Olympic Meets to cheer his the runners on.
Besides being the head coach for cross country, Coach Tom was also the head coach of outdoor track from 1991 to 2005. Coach Tom is currently on the board of CLCF Sports and holds the position of secretary.
