Children from ages 7 to 14 years of age can participate in the XC program! High school ages runners can compete in the Junior Olympics meet in November and December.
Anyone who likes to run, to give full effort, and to have fun will want to join the team. The coaching staff conducts practices and races designed to improve each participant's fitness, and help develop their running ability.
CLCF cross country competes in invitationals such as the Ocean State and Campopiano as well as USATF Junior Olympics.
The team holds 4 of its own developmental meets at Chafee Athletic Complex and at Western Hills.
The cross country season takes place in the fall of each year. The 2022 CLCF season is starting August 29, 2022 at Western Hills. Practice will be at either Western Hills or John Chafee Athletic Complex.
There are two programs- rec league and a travel team and both practice on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday nights from 5-6 pm. The travel team practices until 6:15 during the week. The travel team has an additional practice on Saturday mornings from 8:30-10 am. All practices will take place in Cranston(John Chafee Athletic Complex or Western Hills middle schools) unless otherwise specified.
CLCF holds 4 developmental meets along with an open meet (last year we hosted an Ekiden meet). For those who are part of the racing team they compete in USATF and AAU meets.
Anyone from the age of 7 to 14 who wants to challenge themselves and be a part of a fun team. Our coaches train our runners to make the most of their abilities. They understand that not everyone develops the same way and will modify group workouts as needed.
The rec league program's cost is $80.
The travel/racing team's cost is $100 with a singlet.

Zia placed 4th at Yahara Hills Golf Course in Madison Wisconsin on December 14, 2019 at the USATF National Junior Olympics. She ran in the 8 and under age group in the 2K race with a time of 8:13.4.
Zia placed 3rd at Bourbon County Cross Country Course in Paris, KY on December 11,2021 at the USATF National Junior Olympics. She ran in the 9-10 age group in the 3K race with a time of 12:20.16.
Evelyn placed 17th at the Bourbon County Cross Country Course in Paris, KY on December 11,2021 at the USATF National Junior Olympics. She ran in the 8U age group in the 2k race with a time of 8:48.35.
Keaney placed 5th at the Bourbon Country Cross County Course Paris, KY on December 11,2021 at the USATF National Junior Olympics. She ran in the 13-14 age group in the 4k race with a time of 16:01.90.
On Oct 10, the Panthers competed in the Wayland XC Festival for the first time. The 10 and under co ed team finished 5th overall. While Zia Fadil placed first of all the girls in the 10 and under race. Brendan Cute finished first out of the CLCF boys and 24th overall. In the 11-14 race, Cohen Brinker finished first out of the CLCF runners placing 21st overall.

CLCF once again competed well in CT. This time at the AAU Region finals. Zia won her for the 9-10 year olds but also broke her own record for the 3K! Just two weeks ago she set the record at the CCJTC meet with a time of 12:52. Today she ran a 12:37! Evelyn won the 7-8 2K handily, coming in 4:20 ahead of the next runner. Her sister Leah finished 4th in the same race. Andrew placed 2nd in the 11-12 3K and his brother Matthew finished second also in the 7-8 2K. Holden Butler PR'd in the 3K with a time of 15:39 placing 3rd. Max PR'd as well in the same race, placing 2nd with a time of 14:08. Congratulations to all the runners for a great job of running.
Sunday 10/24, the Panthers competed in the 1.1-mile races at Franklin Park. At the Mayor’s Cup, our 11-12 boys team of Colton, Adonijah, Nate, Shep, Andrew, and Kingston won their race. Kingston led the way by placing 5th with a time of 6:29. The girls 10u team of Zia, Ellie, Evelyn and Leah placed 2nd! Zia was the first to finish for the Panthers, placing 2nd with a time of 7:12.
Cohen placed 13th in the 13-14 age race with a time of 6:38.
There were a lot of good races by our runners Sunday. Nice job everyone!

The course was fast as the there were many PR's and team records set that day. The 11-12 boys finished first again. Kingston(7) and Adonijah(9) were the top two finishers for CLCF. Evelyn placed 2nd overall 8U for girls. The 8U boys placed 2nd by 6 points. Prince was the first to finish for his team, placing 8th. Malachi was the first Panther to finish in the 9-10 boys. Zia placed 4th overall for the girls 9-10. Keaney placed 3rd overall for 13-14 girls.

It was a difficult course but all the runners competed hard. Evelyn finished 17th in the 8 and under 2K race as an All American. Zia placed 3rd and Keaney placed 5th to become All Americans in 2021. Colton placed first for the boys 11-12 age, group, placing 85th with a time of 12:23.97.
The 2nd annual Tom Aman Ekiden Race was held on October 2. An ekiden race is where 5 person teams where each leg runs either 1.8K or 1.3K. There were 5 teams competed today with many runners having fun running with their own team as well as building their own relay team in the open races! Thank you to all who competed and to the coaches who officiated the race!
XC coaching staff will work with the runners to have fun, stay fit and become stronger.
The season starts the last week in August for everyone. The racing team finishes in late November with Junior Olympics. The rec league finished at the end of October.
