Children from second grade to eighth grade can participate in the XC program!
Anyone who likes to run, to give full effort, and to have fun will want to join the team. The coaching staff conducts practices and races designed to improve each participant's fitness, and help develop their running ability.
CLCF cross country competes in invitationals such as the Ocean State and Campopiano as well as USATF Junior Olympics.
The team holds 5 of its own developmental meets at Briggs Field (Chafee Complex) and at Cranston West track.
On November 7, 2020 CLCF held their first RI Cup at the Chafee Complex in Cranston, RI. The race format was Ekiden, which is a relay with teams of 4. There were 50 runners who competed from CLCF, Sentinel Striders and Surge. There were races for 7 to 14 years old. Runners 9+ ran a 3K, 2K, 2K and 3K for their legs. The 7-8 year olds ran a 2k, 1k., 1k and 2k for their legs. Thanks to Gatorade who gave us free bottles of Gatorade for our runners to consume. It was a lot of fun for the runners, coaches and parents. Thank to all who attended! Already planning 2021 Rhode Island Cup!
Zia placed 4th Yahara Hills Golf Course in Madison Wisconsin on December 14, 2019. She ran in the 8 and under age group in the 2K race with a time of 8:13.4.

The CLCF XC program has many dedicated coaches-(from left to right) Mike Fadil, Steve Johnson, Tom Aman, Frank Notarianni and Nicole Renzulli.
Coach Steve and Melendy and the XC coaching staff will work with the runners to have fun, stay fit and become stronger.
The season starts the Tuesday after Labor Day and finishes in late November with Junior Olympics.
